method of removal of chlorine and inorganic components from eucaliptus ssp wood. for production of solid fuel in the form of pellets or other. Eucalyptus produced in tropical regions tends to contain higher concentrations of chlorine and other inorganic in higher levels than permitted by international standards, such as enplus and the like, for solid biofuel production. The present invention is concerned with the removal of chlorine and other inorganics using mechanical and chemical pretreatment processes comprising mincing, milling and leaching prior to the production of biofuels in pellet or other form. This method enables the reduction of toxic gases such as dioxins and corrosive gases resulting in the combustion process of solid biofuels.
