The present invention briefly relates, in one or more embodiments, to virtualized network function resources that can be managed in a network. performance measurements may be received by at least one mobility management entity (mme) in a mme group, or other network elements. if at least one of the performance measurements exceeds at least a predetermined threshold, instantiation of a new mobility management entity (mme vnf) virtual network function may be requested, and mme vnf may be instantiated in response to the request. one or more user equipment (eu) devices managed by the mme group may be connected to the added mme vnf.
