The present invention relates to polyclonal antibodies specific for neisseria meningitidis serogroup x (nmx) capsular polysaccharides, wherein said antibodies are suitable for in vitro detection of neisseria meningitidis serogroup x in uncultivated biological fluids. The present invention also relates to said polyclonal antibodies in different tests and diagnostic methods in order to detect nmx. The present invention also describes a rapid diagnostic test for detecting nmx in a biological fluid as well as a method of obtaining polyclonal antibodies useful for detecting nmx in biological fluids such as cerebrospinal fluid, serum and urine.
