The present invention relates to an alerting device (10), system and method for alerting a hearing impaired person to a sound event and the location of such sound event through a sensory means. The invention further extends to tracking an object within a predefined perimeter, outside which an alert may be triggered. the warning device (10) includes a body-usable unit (12) having a plurality of differently colored LEDs (16.1, 16.2, 16.3, 16.4, 16.5) and a plurality of differently colored sound detection units (20.1, 20.2, 20, .3, 20.4, 20.5), and each of the differently colored sound detection units (20.1, 20.2, 20.3, 20.4, 20.5) corresponds to the same color led (16.1, 16.2, 16.3, 16.4, 16.5 ) on the body-worn unit to thereby color-code the body-usable unit for sound detection units (20.1, 20.2, 20.3, 20.4, 20.5).
