The present invention relates to an anchor comprising a paw, a rod that is connected to the paw, and a coupling for securing the paw to an anchor line or anchor chain, wherein the rod comprises two rod legs, wherein each has a straight shank plate with an outer surface extending on opposite sides of the anchor symmetry plane and diverging from the coupling toward the shank, wherein the shank comprises two straight penetration plates with a top surface on opposite sides of the anchor symmetry plane, where the orientation of the outer surfaces relative to the top surfaces is specified by three angles at narrow intervals to provide excellent penetration properties and excellent retention capability.
