sulfur hexafluoride gas recovery. The present invention relates to a system and method provided to recover a reusable degree of sulfur hexafluoride (sf ~ 6 ~) from a potentially contaminated gas source. The system includes extraction vessels (10) connected to the source of sulfur. potentially contaminated gas. A first cryogenic medium (15) reduces the temperature of the extraction vessel to a temperature below the sf ~ 6 ~ phase transition causing a differential pressure that causes potentially contaminated gas to enter the extraction vessels (10). The liquid returns to the liquid and / or solid form in the extraction vessel (10). the noncondensing contaminant gas is evacuated from the extraction vessels (10). recovery containers (22) are connected to the extraction container. A second cryogenic medium (25) is employed to reduce the temperature of the recovery vessels (22). Increasing the temperature of the extraction vessels (10) creates a differential pressure which causes the reusable degree of sf ~ 6 to enter the recovery vessels (22).
