A modular system has been shown for the construction of a pig barn with a plurality of pig paths with underlying fertilizer channels, which module system comprises one or more wall elements (1) designed to be both fertilizer channel walls and storage spaces and to be placed either directly on a compressed sand substrate or with a membrane located between a compressed sand substrate (4) and the one or more wall elements, a watertight channel membrane (7) for each fertilizer channel to ensure the density of sides, bottom and ends thereof, a plurality of carrier profiles for mounting between two wall elements perpendicular thereto or between a wall element and another wall or wall in the pig barn perpendicular thereto, and one or more grilles (8) for mounting between two supporting profiles. Furthermore, there is shown a pig barn which is at least partially constructed by such a modular system.
