The present invention relates to a method for reducing flu-like symptoms associated with treating a patient with multiple sclerosis, with intramuscular administration of interferon-β_1a over an 8-week period, the method involving intramuscularly administering interferon-β_1a to the MS patient once per week according to a regimen which comprises administering intramuscularly administering 7.5 μg of interferon-β_1a to the patient in week 1, intramuscularly administering 15 μg of interferon-β_1a to the patient in week 2, intramuscularly administering 22.5 μg of interferon-β_1a to the patient in week 3 and intramuscularly administering 30 μg of interferon-β_1a to the patient in week 4 and every week thereafter. Another object of the invention is a titration package for reducing flu-like symptoms associated with treating a patient with multiple sclerosis, with intramuscular administration of interferon-β_1a over an 8-week period according to the above method. The titration package comprises interferon-β_1a and intramuscular delivery devices, which enables compliance with a therapy regimen of changing dosage of an interferon over a period of time.
