The invention relates to the mining industry and energy engineering, in particular to methods for recovering methane on the fields of abandoned coal mines and devices for their implementation. The method for recovering methane on the fields of abandoned coal mines where methane is collected above the upper layer of the liquid filling the mine and transported to the places of use consists in that the liquid with methane dissolved in it, which fills all the coal workouts, is moved from the lower layers to the surface of the liquid. The device for implementing the claimed method consists of a bell for collection of the gas and a gas extraction pipe connected to the upper part of the bell and is distinguished in that it additionally comprises a suction pipe connected from below to the delivery pipe located inside the bell, wherein the outside diameter of the pipe is smaller than the inner diameter of the bell , the upper end of the delivery pipe is located above the lower face of the bell, and a submersible pump is placed in the delivery pipe. The technical result of application of the claimed method and device for recovering methane on the fields of abandoned coal mines is increase of efficiency of methane extraction by recovering methane from the liquid enriched with dissolved methane.
