The invention relates to casting shafts used for a roller of a fiber web material machine. The casting shafts 11, 18 have two end part sections 19, 20 each and a section part 21 between the end part sections 19, 20. Each end part section 19, 20 is provided with a variation area 31. In the variation area, a shaft neck 24 belonging to the shaft changes into a section part 21. The variation area 31 extends to a load area 32 of the shaft 11, 18. The invention also relates to a roller equipped with the casting shafts of the fiber web material machine.
