ABSTRACT Embodiments herein disclose a method for detecting intersection points of a Left Ventricle (LV) and a Right Ventricle (RV) in a short axial heart image. The method includes receiving, by a processor unit, the heart image, a heart mask image, and a LV endocardium segmentation. Further, the method includes detecting, by the processor unit, a blood pool falling within a region of interest (ROI). Further, the method includes computing, by the processor unit, a probability map for the blood pool. Further, the method includes computing, by the processor unit, a gradient image on the probability map. Further, the method includes determining a gradient threshold from the gradient image along an endocardium boundary indicated in the LV segmented image. Furthermore, the method includes detecting, by the processor unit, the intersection points of the LV and the RV based on the gradient threshold. FIG. 5
