The present invention relates to a system and method for network reconfiguration and load dispatching of installed DG to minimize I2R losses and improve system reliability under varying load condition. The invention provides minimization of losses in distribution system by two methods viz., reconfiguring the system without changing its structure and load dispatching of the existing installed and available Distribution Generators. The system according to the present invention continuously monitors the load by taking data from existing SCADA system about Status of the switch / circuit breaker and real and reactive power being consumed at every point in the distribution network as inputs and output the switch status and loading of DG to minimize I2R losses.
