HLS PROTOCOL BASED METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR LIVE BROADCAST AND CLIENT

Disclosed are an HLS protocol based method and system for live broadcast and a client. An M3U8 index list is downloaded from a subserver in an HLS protocol based live broadcast process slices of a program resource are downloaded on the basis of the M3U8 index list for playback; when a master server reassigns another subserver an M3U8 index list and slices of a program resource are downloaded from the newly assigned subserver; the slices of the program resource downloaded from the new subserver are analyzed to acquire PTS timestamp information in the slices; the PTS timestamp information in the slices downloaded from the new subserver is compared with PTS timestamp information in the slices downloaded from the former subserver and a determination is made on the basis of the comparison result to either play or not play the current newly downloaded slices of the program resource. This allows a user to experience smooth viewing of a live broadcast video on a terminal.
