ABSTRACT The present invention is in the technical field of nanoparticle delivery system, in particular, a self-assembling reconstituted high density lipoprotein complex comprising a combination of: a pH-specific polymer, a cross linker, a receptor binding component (R), and a drug (D); wherein the pH-specific polymer crosslinked to receptor binding component (R) and Drug (D), encapsulated within the nano matrix, for targeted and controlled release of drug for cancer treatment. The nanoparticle delivery system offers variable combinations of cancer cell-specific receptors and ligands for targeted drug delivery. The present invention also relates to components useful in preparation of the nanoparticle delivery system, as well as the compositions, methods, processes, and uses thereof.
