The present invention disclose a system for remotely sensing and controlling an appliance using an Internet of Things (IoT) lattice sheet. The system as disclosed herein comprises the IoT lattice sheet placed on top of an input unit of the appliance. The magnetostrictive units are attached at one or more predefined positions of the IoT lattice sheet. The magnetic stickers are attached over one or more buttons of the input unit corresponding to the one or more magnetostrictive units. A processing unit embedded in the IoT lattice sheet for providing a control signal to one or more magnetostrictive units, thereby controlling switching operation of the one or more buttons.
