ELECTRONIC SUB-SYSTEM AND DFIG BASED POWER GENERATION SYSTEM FOR POWERING VARIABLE FREQUENCY ELECTRICAL DEVICES

A power generation system (600) is presented. The power generation system (600) includes a doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) (612) having a rotor winding (636) and a stator winding (634); one or more auxiliary power sources (616); an electronic sub-system (614) electrically coupled to the DFIG (612) and the one or more auxiliary power sources (616). The electronic sub-system (614) includes a rotor-side converter (620) electrically coupled to the rotor winding (636) of the DFIG (612) and one or more line-side converters (622, 624, 626) electrically coupled to the rotor-side converter (620) via a direct current (DC) link (638). At least one first line-side converter (622, 624) is configured to supply a variable frequency electrical power to the at least one variable frequency electrical device (604, 606) at a frequency determined based on a level of a surplus electrical power supplied from the one or more auxiliary power sources (616).
