The method analyses the body-in-white to identify one or more regions on the body-in-white susceptible to undergo deformation due to thermal load. A compression/retention metal clip having a high coefficient of thermal expansion is placed at each identified region. The body-in-white having compression/ retention metal clip is then passed through the drying oven. The compression metal clip restricts movement of the identified region under high thermal load in the drying oven, thereby preventing thermal deformation thereon. (FIG 2)
