The present disclosure relates to producing speech output and controlling Internet of Things (IoT) devices by generating binary code for breath (exhale) through augmentative and assistive communication device. In an aspect, speech output is produced by receiving short exhales and/or long exhales; encoding the received short exhales and long exhales; extracting abbreviation from the encoded exhales by comparing the encoded short exhales and the encoded long exhales within an exhale database so as to identify character(s) and/or numeral(s) corresponding to the encoded short exhales and the encoded long exhales, wherein the identified character(s) and/or numeral(s)are concatenated to form an abbreviation; matching the extracted abbreviation from an abbreviation database to identify an abbreviation definition, and generating speech output corresponding to the identified abbreviation definition. In an another aspect, the encoded short exhales and the encoded long exhales are utilized for matching the encoded short exhales and long exhales within a database to select an IoT device corresponding to the encoded short exhales and the encoded long exhales; and controlling parameter of the selected IoT device.
