More than 80% of patients occasionally miss a dose of their medication. Health practitioners got to plan with their patients what to do if a dose is missed. Patients believe that this plan should be a required part of the information received when a medication is prescribed and dispensed. In general, medications, or their active metabolites, tend to create problems when a dose is missed than medications with a short half-life. This usually occurs when the drug is acting via an irreversible mechanism (for example aspirins effect on platelets), via an indirect mechanism (for example the effect of warfarin on blood coagulation), when the drug is a pro-drug (in which case it is the half-life of the active species that is important) or when the drug is converted to an active metabolite which has a long half-life so its necessary for the patient to have the correct medication at the correct time without being missed. This can be done with help of automation which is ruling the world now. So in this case a device is made which consist of pill at various trays and this device is connected to the database which tell what medication is to be used for at what time so the tray are opened and an alarm is raised to indicate the person have the pills form the opened trays. This is how the automation helps the person from not missing the medication and also in taking the correct medication at the right time.
