A comprehensive health monitoring system with a key infrastructure enabling unobtrusive, continual, ambulatory health monitoring is provided. This has potential to offer a wide range of benefits to patients, medical personnel, and society through continuous monitoring in the ambulatory setting, early detection of abnormal conditions supervised rehabilitation, and knowledge discovery through data mining of all gathered information. Integrated into a telemedical system, these systems can alert medical personnel when life-threatening changes occur. In addition, patients can benefit from continuous long-term monitoring as a part of a diagnostic procedure, can achieve optimal maintenance of chronic conditions, or can be supervised during recovery from an acute event or surgical procedure. The system is flexible, reliable, secure, and power-efficient suitable for medical as well as other applications like Access control.
