The invention relates to a potentiometric method for determining the amount of potassium ions in pharmaceutical preparations.The method, according to the invention, comprises addition of a predetermined amount of sodium tetraphenylborate in excess to the analyzed sample containing potassium ions and subsequent potentiometric titration of the sample, at the same time titration of the excess of tetraphenylborate with a standard KCl solution is carried out with a tetraphenylborate-selective electrode based on [Cr3O(C5H9O2)6H2O)3][B(C6H5)4]. The amount of potassium is determined according to the difference between the predermined amount and the excess of tetraphenylborate.
