The present invention relates to a process for generating a solid acid catalyst from sawdust, which consists of washing the sawdust with acetone and then with water for drying it. The next step is the lignin extraction of the sawdust, lignin impregnation with phosphoric acid and drying it. The following stage is the pyrolysis of said lignin, washing of the pyrolyzed lignin, sulfonation, and finally washing of the sulfonated lignin. The present invention is a novelty by postulating the steps of lignin impregnation with phosphoric acid and the sulfonation of pyrolyzed lignin. Also, it claims to propose the production method of the acid catalyst with a porous surface, consisting of the esterification of raw material with a high content of free fatty acids.
