A support member (88; see particularly figures 4 to 8) in the form of an adjustable leg with a pad (104) can support the pipe machining apparatus (20) on a surface. A support member (388; see particularly figures 18 to 20) in the form of a lifting aid with two mutually perpendicular flanges (396,404) with an aperture (400,408) each allows lifting of the pipe machining apparatus (20) in either a horizontal position or a vertical position (see particularly figures 21-25).
