A method for simulating the positioning of at least one streamer (towed acoustic linear antenna) includes current predictions which take into account current variations in time and space along the length of the streamer. The method includes simulating P2 the future position of at least one point on the streamer, such as the head of the streamer and navigation devices. The current is measured or determined P3 at at least two fixed or moving points in the study zone (e.g. on ships, at the head and tail of the streamer) and the future positions of these points is simulated. Temporal and spatial projections of the current are used to predict the future currents at at least two distinct points on the streamer. Having predicted the future currents, the future form of the streamer at the simulated future position is determined by resolution of a hydrodynamic model. The temporal projection phase may include extrapolating current measurements PT2 and using oceanographic predictions PT2. The method may include choosing PT4 the best one of a number of predictions or calculating PT5 a weighted average of a number of predictions.
