POLY(N-ISOPROPYLACRYLAMIDE) HYDROGELS FOR HEAVY METAL IONS REMOVING FROM SOLUTIONS AND THE ADSORPTION PROCEDURE

The subject of the protection in the present invention is a new application of the thermosensitive homopolymer hydrogel poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) for the removal of heavy metal ions, particularly manganese, chromium and iron and the new application procedure for lead ions removal, from the solutions. It also describes the procedure for obtaining the poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) hydrogels which were applied for the removal of heavy metals. The advantage of using thermosensitive poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) hydrogels, according to this invention, is reflected in the high adsorption capacity of heavy metal ions, particularly manganese, chromium, iron and lead, the controlling of adsorption process by changing temperature, better efficiency and re-use of hydrogels after adsorption.
