Adaptive system for seismic protection of buildings and other structures under strong earthquakes with structurally incorporated global optimization of seismic energy balance includes combined installation of seismic isolation system, seismic energy dissipation system, system for reducing of large displacements and system for protection overturning of integral structure. Seismic energy dissipation system is composed of required number of multi-gap adaptive multi-level reaction devices for seismic energy dissipation which are successively activated in multi-levels in respect to actual earthquake intensity and respectively are effective in all directions. The stated effect is achieved with successive activation of installed vertical seismic energy dissipation components since it is assured their activation to be with present gaps with different width constructed alternatively in the form of free space or filled with flexible material, providing required frequent change of stiffness of the system, avoidance of severe resonant effect and assuring full seismic protection of the structure under earthquake with different intensities and different frequency content of respective earthquake ground motion.
