Described is a method for measuring alkanes in alcohols by a method of nanosegregation in aqueous solutions, based on the fact that alkanes contained in alcohols as undesirable impurities after mixing the alcohol with water are segregated into discrete, relatively stable nanoparticles whose frequency, size and density correlate with the content of alkanes, which is then quantitated by calibration dependencies. The quantification may be performed by laser light scattering.
