The present invention relates to a method of authenticating a user for access control in a computer, and the system thereof. The present invention utilizes the pixel value of an image which is uploaded by the user as an identity for authentication. Accordingly, the method comprises the steps of receiving a graphical password comprising an image (100); developing a passcode for the image (200); generating the passcode having the pixel values sequentially arranged with respect to the grids; and authenticating the user if the graphical password matches that stored in a database.
