The invention relates to a method of controlling Xanthomonas campestris pv. vesicatoria using Angiopteris palmiformis (Cav.) C. Chr. and a botanical pesticide formulation on the same to control bacterial leaf spot in pepper (Capsicum annuum L.). The botanical pesticide composition comprises 1:1 ratio of fern (Angiopteris palmiformis (Cav.) C. Chr.) parts to vinegar as extracting agent. In particular, the fern extract is obtained by combining 100 gram fern sample to 100 ml of vinegar. The antibacterial activity of the botanical pesticide extract was tested effective up to seven months using agar well diffusion technique. A botanical pesticide formulation having 50 pcnt concentration was shown effective through pot experiment in controlling the bacterial leaf spot in pepper. The said 50 pcnt botanical formulation was also shown to be effective in eradication of bacterial leaf spot of pepper in field trials using preventive and curative spray applications.
