Splitting knife device with two combinable splitting knife frames (1 and 2), square or rectangular format, with splitting knife sets (3 and 4) intended for use in a supporting frame of a log splitter for horizontal splitting, are provided, in which the two combinable splitting knife frames (1 and 2) form closed frame, which are arranged one behind the other in the scaffold, the height guided displaceably, as well as fixable via an adjustment, held against the nip pressure, are used and connected to the upper cross members (10 and 11) releasably bolted together.
