The present invention refers to a kitchen device, which comprises a kitchen (11) and at least one lighting device (100) which is a separate device with respect to the kitchen (11). The invention is characterized by the fact that the lighting device (100) and the kitchen (11) have in each case at least one communication unit (104, 113) by means of which information regarding the state can be transmitted at least the cooker (11) to the lighting device (100), and the communication unit (104) of the lighting device (100) is connected to a control unit (115) of the lighting device (100) to activate at least one adjustment device (102) of the lighting device (100) to modify the light emission based on the information related to the status received from the kitchen (11). Furthermore, the invention refers to a method for putting into operation a lighting device (100) of a kitchen device (1), which comprises at least one lighting device (100) and a kitchen (11).
