Method to determine the minimum realignment capacity Δreq necessary in a receiving station SRX to realign a digital stream (Ftx) packed in a transmitting station STX in containers of ctnrsize size, and distributed in a set (Na) of available physical links selected from among those belonging to a group that comprises a plurality (N) of physical links (Li) that connect the transmitting station (STX) and the receiving station (SRX) and that are to be combined into a single logical link between the two stations, - in that a respective link transmission capacity Ci and a respective link processing latency ri are associated with each available link (Li); the procedure comprising the steps of: - calculating, for each available link, the time Ti for transmission of a container of ctnrsize size from the transmitting station STX to the receiving station SRX, - performing the calculation on the basis of the transmission capacity Ci and link ri processing latency; - determine the transmission time TM on the available link with a maximum transmission time between the links of the selected available link set; - determining the transmission time Tm on the available link with a minimum transmission time between the links of the set of selected available links; - calculate the minimum storage capacity Δreq necessary in the receiving station GRX for realignment of the digital flow, as a function of said transmission times TM and Tm, the number Na of links of the set of selected available physical links, and the size ctnrsize.
