A method for modeling a digital design of a dental prosthesis (1764; 2464) for a patient, said dental prosthesis comprising a gingival part and a dental part comprising a set of dental prosthesis teeth (1330), where the method comprises: - obtain a 3D digital representation of the patient's gum (925, 928; 1925, 1928; 2028); - obtain virtual dental models (930; 1430; 1930) corresponding to the teeth of the dental prosthesis; - obtain a 3D digital representation of a lower wax fence (927; 1527; 1927) and / or obtain a 3D digital representation of a higher wax fence (924; 1524; 1924). - virtually provide virtual dental models in relation to the 3D digital representation of the patient's gum and in relation to the 3D digital representations of the upper and / or lower wax fence; - generate a virtual external gingival surface of the gingival part of the dental prosthesis.
