DETECTION OF TOXIGENIC STRAINS OF CLOSTRIDIUM DIFFICILE

Primers and probes for detection of toxin-producing (toxigenic) strains ofClostridium difficile, and to methodsof detecting toxigenic strains using these primers and probes. Toxigenicstrains of C. difficile are detected by nucleic acid-basedamplification methods using particular primers and probes that bind to thetoxin B (TcdB) gene. These primers and probes are usedto amplify C. difficile nucleic acids in clinical samples to determine thepresence of these toxigenic strains.
