USE OF DYNAMIN RING STABILIZERS

There is provided a method for promoting dynamin ring formation and/ormaintenance of dynamin rings in a cell,comprising treating the cell with an effective amount of a dynamin ringstabilizer, or a prodrug or pharmaceutically acceptable saltof the dynamin ring stabilizer. The maintenance or accumulation of dynaminring formation has particular application in theprophylaxis or treatment of a kidney disease or condition characterized byproteinuria. A dynamin ring stabilizer can be any agentthat interacts with dynamin to promote dynamin ring assembly and/or inhibitdynamin ring disassembly. There are also providedmethods for prophylaxis or treatment of podocyte dysfunction and/ormaintaining or inducing actin cytoskeleton formation in acell utilizing dynamin ring stabilizers, and for screening a test agent foruse as a dynamin ring stabilizer.
