The invention relates to a housing for covering the ends of a row of rotorblades of anaxial turbomachine compressor, the housing being provided with a sealingdevicebetween the blade tips and the housing. It comprises a shell 22 segmentedalong itscircumference, each segment being fixed to the housing 12 by a series ofelastomeric elements 30 in a recess 32 in the shape of a channel cut into theinnersurface of the housing. In this way, in the event of misalignment of the rotorrelativeto the stator, the rotor blades 24 coming into contact with sections of theshell will beable to move to compensate for this misalignment while reducing the frictionalforcesgenerated by contact between the blades and the shell.
