The invention relates to a two-part dental instrument (1) for the preparation of root channels for receiving rotationally asymmetrical, accurately fitting and congruently shaped root pins. The working dental instrument (1) is provided with abrasive surfaces at its working sides and is operated in an oscillating manner. The guide thereof is ensured by a slotted sleeve (3) which is inserted into the conical root channel. The preparation of a rotationally asymmetrical pin bed resulting therefrom secures in the case of the use of the associated congruently shaped, rotationally asymmetrical root pins the risk of rotation and thus the loss of the restoration.
