Disclosed in the present invention are a registration method and a system for a non-rigid multimodality medical image. The registration method comprises the following steps: obtaining a local descriptor of a reference image according to Zernike moments of order 0 and repetition 0, Zernike moments of order 1 and repetition 1 of the reference image; obtaining a local descriptor of a floating image according to Zernike moments of order 0 and repetition 0, Zernike moments of order 1 and repetition 1 of the floating image; and finally obtaining a registration image on the basis of the local descriptors of the reference image and the floating image. In the invention, by using self-similarity of the multimodality medical image and adopting the local descriptor based on the Zernike moment, the registration problem of the non-rigid multimodality medical image is thus converted into a registration problem of a single modality medical image, thereby greatly improving accuracy and robustness of the non-rigid multimodality medical image registration.
