The present invention relates to the technical field of electronics. Provided are a method for collecting data when unlocking a hotel room on the basis of an iris and a self-service system. The method comprises: reading iris information of a user; displaying to the user the positions of currently available rooms and corresponding room prices; reading a room selected by the user; determining whether a purchase amount inputted by the user is greater than the room price; if not, prompting the user to continue input purchase amount or refunding the purchase amount inputted by the user; and if yes, authenticating and setting the iris information of the user as iris information required for unlocking the room selected by the user, and transmitting technical usage data to a manufacturer-preset data collecting terminal. The invention, by reading and authenticating the iris information of a client, allows the client to carry out self-service registration and check-in procedures at a hotel, thus reducing operating costs for the hotel, and at the same time facilitating the manufacturer to collect a use state of the related technique in a timely and effective manner.
