Provided are an update prompting method and system for a brief introduction of a broadcast television. The method comprises the following steps: sending a file identifier for watching to a television broadcasting system; receiving a list of watching devices and distances, corresponding to the file identifier, issued by the television broadcasting system; and successively sending a brief introduction to the watching devices in the list of watching devices according to a distance order, and requesting downloading. The technical solution provided in the present invention has the advantage of a rapid downloading speed.
