A device for automatically analyzing rental item preference by means of a user image, and a method using same are disclosed. A user image can be collected from a user's terminal, an item image for determining user's preference for a rental item can be extracted from the user image, and user's preference for a rental item with respect to a plurality of rental items registered in an item rental service can be calculated on the basis of an item object detected from the item image. The present invention enables an increase in profits for the item rental service by means of automatically obtaining preference information of users who use the item rental service and recommending a rental item which is highly likely to be rented by the user.
