A METHOD FOR GENERATING A VIRTUAL MODEL OF A MAXILLARY CAST OR A MANDIBULAR CAST IN A VIRTUAL ARTICULATOR

A method (100) comprising: receiving (110), from a memory, a virtual articulator dataset representing a virtual articulator reference model (A) comprising a first cloud of markers and a second cloud of markers; receiving (120) a first dataset representing a virtual model of a maxillary cast provided in a first holder; receiving (120) a second dataset representing a virtual model of a mandibular cast provided in a second holder; and creating (130) a third dataset by aligning the first dataset and the second dataset with the virtual articulator dataset. Since the virtual articulator dataset is stored, only two scans need to be performed to create the full virtual model of the maxillary cast and the mandibular cast in the virtual articulator.
