A touch chip and a method for detecting a touched point on a touchscreen. The method comprises: a touch chip outputs a drive signal to S drive channels of a touchscreen in a current scan cycle (S210), the touchscreen having M drive channels, M being a positive integer, and S being a positive integer less than M; when the touch chip outputs the drive signal to each drive channel of the S drive channels, the touch chip receives a sensing signal outputted by N sensing channels of the touchscreen (S220), N being a positive integer; and the touch chip detects a touched point on the touchscreen on the basis of the sensing signal outputted by the N sensing channels and received by the touch chip when the touch chip outputs the drive signal to the S drive channels (S230). The touch chip and the method for detecting the touched point on the touchscreen effectively reduce the time for detecting the touched point on the touchscreen, thus increasing the report rate of the touchscreen and reducing the power consumption of the touch chip.
