The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for suppressing the expression of a gene, said gene regulating oocyte maturation in shrimps, by using an RNA interference method so as to release the regulation of oocyte maturation. The present invention pertains to a method for releasing the regulation of oocyte maturation in cultured shrimps, said method comprising suppressing the expression of vitellogenesis-inhibiting hormone (VIH) gene in shrimps by the RNA interference method with the use of double stranded RNA (dsRNA) targeting mRNA of the vitellogenesis-inhibiting hormone gene in cultured shrimps.
