Embodiments of the present invention provide a network topology discovery method and apparatus, and a hybrid fiber coaxial cable network. The method comprises: a CM receives a broadcast message sent by a CMTS; in a preset time period using sending time as a time start point, the CM receives an uplink test signal sent by a CMi according to the sending time that is used for sending the uplink test signal and that is comprised in an uplink resource corresponding to the CMi; the CM determines information about transmission time of the CMi relative to the CM according to the received uplink test signal; and the CM sends the information about the transmission time to the CMTS. By means of the network topology discovery method, the complexity of determining a network topology structure can be simplified, and costs can be reduced.
