Provided are a method and apparatus for transmitting an image of the scene of a fire, and a hand-held thermal imager for firefighting. The method comprises: acquiring position information about a fire-fighter by means of an inertial navigation system, and generating a visible spectrum image and a thermal imaging far-infrared spectrum image of the scene of a fire; according to the thermal imaging far-infrared spectrum image and the visible spectrum image, performing superposition to generate a scene image of the scene of the fire corresponding to the position information; and transmitting the position information and the scene image to a background command centre by means of a mobile network. By implementing the embodiments of the present application, position information about a fire-fighter and a scene image corresponding to the position information can be transmitted to a background command centre in a timely manner, so that the background command centre develops a reasonable rescue plan for the situation at the scene of a fire.
