The present invention relates to a separation membrane for an electrochemical element, which comprises a nonwoven fabric substrate, wherein at least one side surface of the nonwoven fabric substrate comprises an electrode reaction layer formed by carbonizing the nonwoven fabric member from the surface thereof to a prescribed depth, and the electrode reaction layer is disposed at the outermost side of at least one surface of both surfaces of the separation membrane.
