A cable welding wire for use in a CMT welding system, comprising a central welding wire (1), the outside of the central welding wire being provided with a helical welding wire (2), the helical welding wire (2) being tightly wound around the central welding wire in a helical manner, the outside of the helical welding wire being provided with a protective coil, the helical welding wire being internally provided with four sub-welding wire sets (3), the sub-welding wire sets being tangentially arranged, and each sub-welding wire set being internally provided with a first welding wire (4), a second welding wire (5), a third welding wire (6), and a fourth welding wire (74). A CMT welding system employing said cable welding wire. The present cable welding wire has greater penetration when welding and can reduce the number of welding seam layers of thick plate welding, greatly improving welding productivity and reducing production costs, and has very little splatter, the welding seam having good mechanical performance, the peripheral wire being relatively tight, and the wire feeding process being more stable, thus improving the weldability of the cable welding wire such that the CMT welding system has better welding effects.
