Disclosed are a laser-assisted tunnel-boring machine and a rock breaking method therefor. The machine has two rock-breaking modes: a laser-hobbing cutter rock-breaking mode and a hob rock-breaking mode. The identification of and the switching between the two rock-breaking modes can be implemented by an intelligent control system, wherein the use of the laser-hob rock-breaking mode in hard rock areas can increase the efficiency of breaking rocks, and the hob rock-breaking mode is used in soft rock areas. The breaking mode for laser-assisted rock-breaking mainly involves thermal breaking, wherein a laser (3) is used, and a laser head thereof is installed on a cutter head (10) of the tunnel-boring machine and is assisted by a water-spraying system (11), such that the objective of thermal cracking by means of laser irradiation, rock breaking assisted by rapid cooling by means of spraying water and then excavation by means of mechanical rock breaking is achieved. With the rational selection of the rock-breaking modes, the adaptability of the boring machine to complex geological conditions where soft and hard rocks are alternatively distributed is improved, both increasing the efficiency of breaking rocks and reducing construction costs.
