SYSTEM OR TEST AND METHOD FOR DETECTING THE PRESENCE OF BACTERIA, IN PARTICULAR IN CASES OF BOVINE MASTITIS

A first aspect of the invention relates to a system or a test for detecting the presence of bacteria and optionally supporting a decision-making process for treating said bacteria in particular in cases of bovine mastitis. The system or test comprises a first vessel with a liquid nutrient medium with an indicator, such as a redox indicator, a second vessel with a liquid nutrient medium comprising an indicator, such as a redox indicator, and antibiotics, said antibiotics acting substantially on the group of bacterial microbes selected from gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. The vessels are designed such that the vessels can receive a maximum volume of 5 ml, such as 2 ml, of liquid nutrient medium. A second aspect of the invention relates to a method for detecting the presence of bacteria and optionally for supporting a decision-making process for treating said bacteria in a sample. The method according to the invention and the system according to the invention allow a quick analysis of the presence of bacteria in a sample to be analyzed within 12 hours and is in particular a method or a test for detecting the presence of specific excitation groups in cases of bovine mastitis.
